Challenge 3: 30 Days Pamper Challenge!

First of all, as an educator and bible worker, I am so used to doing everything for everyone else, that is actually weird sometimes to just focus on me!  However, ode to myself, my one and only.  I need to focus on loving me.  Somehow I got caught up in this wife, daughter, teacher, sister, friend, bible worker labels and lost me.  The most precious thing in my life is me, because if I don’t take care of me, I cannot take care of anyone else!!! I decided in this challenge it is important to get up everyday and pamper myself.  That doesn’t mean I can’t still love others and help others, but I have to love on me.  Here are some steps to help pamper yourself and feel amazing:

  1. Dress how you want to feel
  2. Do a work out 2-3 times per week
  3. Eat clean and only cheat once a week or every few weeks
  4. Give yourself a facial
  5. Give yourself a mani/pedi
  6. Think positively
  7. Use essential oils or plants in your house that have calming effects like eucalyptus and lavender
  8. Read your word and pray to God for positive affirmation
  9. Date yourself
  10. Read a book that gives you a daily support like Habits of the Mind or the One Thing

Follow up: I started this challenge and really didn’t know how I was gonna find time to focus on me with all I do but I did.  I started using supplements and essential oils more regularly for clarity.  I began to be more serious about working out and would even do it at home even when I didn’t want to go to the gym or do it outside.  (It is finally feeling like Winter Weather in So Cal so I don’t like being cold!  I bought a cardio fitness bag to hit and kick to get out stress, while staying fit.

To continue, what I notice is if you switch up the routine, it motivates you because you are not so used to the workout that you work yourself out of doing it altogether!!! So now I have no excuse.  I lost 5 pounds doing more exercise and taking my health more serious.

Indeed, dating myself and pampering myself has been nice as well. I have better skin, I am looking more how I feel and looking more how I feel.  It has not been easy, still some challenging days where you feel and look like a mess, but those days are outweighed by me really enjoying myself!  I went to the movies alone and it was a little weird but liberating. I saw what I wanted, ate the snacks I wanted, then took myself to lunch.  I feel like it helped me to appreciate when I have people around and still know I can ride solo sometimes as well.  To be honest, I probably won’t do the movies alone much because I am a talker and like to share with someone and had no laughing buddy.  But dinner or lunch alone sometimes is great. Shopping alone sometimes is a time to walk around and think about what you love and want to do for the day!

Moreover, work has improved because I have improved my attitude and dress with a positive attitude and it shows.  People have made comments and compliments to me often about how I dress.  Further, I have been much more patient with my students.  I take time to listen first and think about my answer before I solve problems.   Seeking God during this time has reinvigorated me.  I am feeling more connected even when things go so left and wrong.  I don’t feel like I won’t get through.  Furthermore, other challenges are if you are having issues with family or your significant others, it can put a damper on your “me” time because your emotions are all over the place or you have to spend a lot of time talking to them.  But it is worth it to build yourself up so that no matter the challenge you will be fortified with the love of yourself that you will not break down and you can get through it!!!
