What can I say to the almighty king about how grateful I am?

I am so blessed for a sound mind.  I am blessed with health and strength.  Over the last few years of trials, he has kept me and taught me how to be faithful to him.  This led me to do a 30 Days of Gratefulness Challenge. I decided for 30 days to get up everyday and let God know at least 5 things I was grateful for.  It was very easy at first to say the common things like family and home but became a little more challenging as time went on. I had to dig deep and reflect on my day to day situations to remember things I was grateful for. It was challenging especially when I had issues that made me feel upset and I was not in such a grateful mood. But this challenge has taught me to be thankful for all that I have. I am thankful for my kitties, my home, my mom, my sister, my brothers, other family/friends, and so much more.

There has been something new that has been birthed in me during this time.  I am now so grateful to God for have an understanding of what he has been doing in my life.  I am grateful to him for the will to want to do right. Because in submitting my will to his will, there has been many lessons he has been teaching me.  For example, he has taught me that my plans and thoughts are not his and he sees on a higher plain to make better decisions looking out into the future.

The bible says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the Heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

Therefore, I can trust him no matter what decision I make. Let’s imagine that there is a crossroads and we are not sure which road will lead us to victory or destruction. We are just a few decisions away from turning down a path that may ruin our life.  I now see it as God has been here before, he knows what each pathway looks like, and he will not forsake us. So, no matter which way we go, he will be with us and help us no matter what. If we take the path of victory, our destinies will be fulfilled.  If we take the path of destruction, the destruction will be hard, but it won’t be the end of the road because we can come back from it and God set us back on the right path.  He just will not force us to go any way when we are at a crossroads.  We have to make the choice of submitting our will to him. When we do remember he is there, he is ready to help.  THAT’S WHY I LOVE HIM SO MUCH! HE IS THERE WITH US NO MATTER WHAT!!!!

So what does this all mean in the life of a sinner like me?  Well, a change was needed in my life that I finally started to embrace.  Instead of always realizing the challenges I faced as bad, I had to realize that I was in a season or a storm that could be used for good. Now, I have been hearing this for a good portion of my life from different elders in the family that God had brought them through some grand storm and they were better for it.  Let me tell you, that is not an easy feat to proclaim.

No one brags about failures and problems in their life!

In fact, we often brag only about the deliverance.  But what about remembering God “bringing us through” the storm. I now can see that even in the midst of past and current turbulence in my life, God has brought me through. He was there holding my hand along the way and guiding me to the sun through the clouds.  There was no need to fear anymore but instead trust him. I can now say that I am grateful for having a God I can truly trust.  A couple of more scripture comes to mind.  Why worry or fear the challenges of life if

2 Timothy 1:7 says, “God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Also, I am emboldened by the scripture in Romans 8:31, “If God be for us, who can ever be against us?”

So there you have it, I now know God is faithful after doing this 30 Days of Gratefulness Challenge. God is for us so no one or nothing that comes up against us can stop us.  We also, can have a victory over fear.  You can now challenge yourself to take some time out daily to let God know what you are thankful for and ponder on how he has been working in your life.  At the end of the challenge is a deeper understanding of yourself and what God can do for your life. Make sure to tell others your testimony of what God has done for you. Be blessed!
